“Then, after the distress, He sent down security for you. Slumber overtook a party of you, while another party was thinking about themselves (as how to save their own lives), thinking wrongly of Allah – the thought of ignorance. They said, ‘Have we any part in the affair?’ Say, ‘Indeed, the affair belongs wholly to Allah.’ They hide within themselves what they dare not reveal to you, saying, ‘If we had anything to do with the affair, none of us would have been killed here.’ Say, ‘Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death,’ and that Allah may test what is in your breasts (i.e. hearts) and purge what is in your hearts. And Allah is All-Knower of what is in the breasts.”

“Thumma anzala ‘alaykum min ba’di alghammi amanatan nu’asan yaghsha ta’ifatan minkum wa ta’ifatun qad ahammat-hum anfusuhum yazunnuuna billahi ghayra alhaqqi zanna aljahiliyyati yaquluuna hal lana min al-amri min shay’in qul inna al-amra kullahu li-llahi yukhfoona fee anfusihim ma la yubdoona laka yaquluuna law kaana lana min al-amri shay’un ma qutilna hahuna qul law kuntum fee buyutikum labaraza alladhina kutiba ‘alayhimu alqatl ila madaji’ihim waliyabtaliya allahu ma fee sudoorikum waliyumahhisa ma fee qulubikum wa allahu ‘alimun bi dhati alssudur.”

پھر وہ تم پر غم کے بعد ایک سکون نازل کرے گا جس سے تم میں سے کچھ لوگوں کو نیند آجائے گی۔ اور دوسری گروہ کو اپنے آپ پر قابو پانے میں دشواری ہوگی کیونکہ وہ جاہلیت کے طریقوں کے مطابق خود کو سمجھتے ہیں۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ کیا ہمارے لئے کوئی امر یا حکمت نہیں؟ تم کہہ دو کہ سارا امر خدا کے حوالے ہے۔ وہ لوگ اپنے دلوں میں وہ باتیں پوشیدہ کرتے ہیں جو تمہارے سامنے نہیں لاتے۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اگر ہمارے پاس کوئی قوت ہوتی تو ہم اس جگہ پر قتل نہیں ہوتے تھے۔ تم کہہ دو کہ اگر تم اپنے گھروں میں ہوتے تو جن لوگوں کو قتل کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے، اُن کو بھی قتل کر دیتے۔ اور اللہ تعالیٰ تمہارے دلوں میں موجود کچھ بھی جانتا ہے۔
