Surah Yunus Ayat 12 English Translation
“And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus, it has been made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing.”
Surah 10 Ayat 12 Rumi
“Wa-idha massal-insana al-durru da’ana li janbihi aw qa’idan aw qa’iman, falamma kashafna ‘anhu durruhu marra ka’an lam yad’uuna ila durrim massahu, kathalika zuyyina lilmusrifina ma kanu ya’malun.”

“اور جب انسان کو مصیبت لگتی ہے تو وہ جو بھی حالات میں ہو جائے، لیٹے ہوئے ہو یا بیٹھے ہوئے ہو یا کھڑے ہوئے ہو، پھر جب ہم نے اس کی مصیبت دور کر دی تو وہ کچھ ایسا کرتا ہے جیسا کو کبھی اس نے ہم سے مدد کی درجوں کی مصیبت کے لئے نہیں بلایا تھا۔ اسی طرح لافانی کرنے والوں کے لئے وہ کچھ چیزیں بہت عمدگی کے لئے سنوار دی گئی ہیں جو وہ کچھ کرتے تھے.”
Surah Yunus Ayat 12 Explanation
This verse highlights the behavior of some people when they are afflicted with hardship or distress. They turn to Allah (God) in supplication, seeking His help and relief, whether they are lying down, sitting, or standing. However, once the difficulty is removed and they are relieved, they go back to their disobedient ways as if they had never sought help from Allah in the first place. The verse further emphasizes that this behavior is characteristic of those who transgress and commit wrongdoing. They are deceived by their own actions and fail to recognize the importance of turning to Allah sincerely and consistently.
